  • First pear plants grafted on LAVI rootstock available (testing)
    16 2025, June

    Species: Hybrid of betulifolia.

Lavi Rootstock was discovered by professor Rafi Stern and was evaluated and studied for 10 years.

Lavi rootstock found to be the most efficient consistently in every year of the evaluation as in the origin mother tree.

Best performance due to the better water-transport capability(Midday stem water potentials (MPa))*.

    Highest yields*.

Strong tree with balanced vigor at older age*.

    Biggest fruit size*.

Excels under stress and extreme temperatures*.

    Agronomic characteristics

Vigour: medium- high, with a well-developed root system.
Compatibility: Good with European pears and Asian pears, very good experience with coscia.

    Yield: Very productive.
Size: Produces very big  size fruit.
Adaptability: It adapts very well to all climates, but especially to warm conditions (low chilling area), adapts well to all soils.
Other features: High water potential and tolerances to stress. High tolerance to the deficit irrigation. High salinity tolerance.

    Resistances and tolerances

    Chlorosis: Highly tolerant.

Psilla : Highly tolerant for some grafted varieties.
    Salinity: High salinity tolerance.
    Pear decline:
    Unknown but probably resistant.

    Fireblight: highly resistant.
